Let us celebrate the greatest wonder of the universe
The God who comes to us,
unbidden.
The God who loves us as we are,
unconditionally
regardless of our actions,
our history,
our shame,
our disgrace
our faithlessness.
A God who refuses to turn away from you, from me,
even when pierced by our self righteous nails,
Death could not separate love from his goal.
Could it ever be possible that we could discard our strivings,
leaving behind our religious works and false piety
and simply receive this divine gift ;
love.

As a human being, I find I have this irreversible inclination towards 'doing things'. Even after hearing over and over again of God's unconditional love - there is that creeping advance of 'works' in my heart that spits on God's Grace and seeks to push myself heavenwards by my own strivings. Your line of leaving behind religious works and false piety struck such a resounding chord with me this morning - because the only reason we are held back from this release in his love is because we won't let go.
Or at least _I_ won't. Maybe true humility is not to grovel in the dust estimating ourselves as worthless, but instead clearly seeing the futility of our childlike insistence to 'do it ourselves'. Maybe.
There's that photograph again. I love it. And I love that God refuses to turn away from us. No matter what.
God's love, grace and mercy, totally unconditional.. the cross proves it to be so. If Jesus had any judgement in him, if was the rewarder of our religious works, here is the place where we would see the judgement of God. Instead Jesus prays the greatest prayer that I could ever imagine could be prayed.
"Father forgive them for they know not what they do"
We are loved.. pure and simple, without reservation.. the truth is that we are loved from outside the universe right into our human hearts
Whoops, that one shouldn't have got through!... I must have a word to Billy and get him to post under his own name
