Friday's prayer.

Lord help my cynicism
find the truth.
May my doubts be overwhelmed
by the knowledge of you.
Let my hopelessness
be filled with light
and the darkest pathway
lead homeward.

Yes I think that you need s healthy cynicism in the church these days, as long as it eventually leads us towards reality

But if you start with cynicism in relationships, you don't start with love, the judgement glasses are already on. You don't give someone the benefit of the doubt.

The Berians, however, were praised for questioning everything they were taught, testing it against the scriptures.

Many of us suffer from church abuse and are no longer gullible, but I don't believe that should lead to cynicism. Despite the pain the journey through this suffering should lead to tranparency, even if others aren't transparent.

Maybe cynicism in the context of your reply to sue is not the right word, Geoff. Skepticism maybe?
